Thank God for the tough spots He put you in. That is where He is getting His love through you to the unlovely, and to people who harm you. That is how Christ lived on earth, expressing the love of God to those who criticized and hated Him; and that is how Christ now lives in us, expressing the same love through us. He has put us among difficult people, so that His supernatural love may be seen by them. So praise the Lord for every tough spot you are in. It is not God’s will to deliver us from tough spots, but in them. There is no other way of getting at those who do not know Him except by those who do living among them.

Persecuted by Religion

Religious people cannot tolerate the breaking of their regulations. Any violation of their religious regulations will stir up persecution. When Jesus broke the Sabbath, the Jewish religionists persecuted Him and even sought to kill Him. Eventually, religion succeeded in sentencing Jesus to death. In the book of Acts we see that the situation was the same regarding the persecution of the apostles.

In like manner, a great many martyrs have suffered persecution at the hand of religion. Now it is our turn to undergo this persecution, this suffering for the building up of the Body of Christ.

Faith’s Adventure

Now to Him Who is able to do superexcessively above all that we are requesting or apprehending, according to the power that is operating in us, to Him be the glory in the ecclesia and in Christ Jesus for all the generations of the eon of the eons! Amen! (Ephesians 3:20-21).

Life is an adventure; and so much more so for the believer. God’s life in us produces a lifetime of adventure. God is at work in the seemingly monotonous and meaningless aspects of life – even more so, in our failures, in our weaknesses, in our inadequacies, in our insufficiencies. In the middle of all of this God has chosen to live out His life “in us” – Divine life within (what appears to be) the confines of mere human existence.

Now such is the confidence we have through Christ toward God (not that we are competent of ourselves, to reckon anything as of ourselves, but our competency is of God) (II Corinthians 3:4-5).

God’s sufficiency turns the ordinary into the extraordinary; not always by the change of the circumstances – but always by the presence of His life “in us.” Every day can be lived in expectancy from God, the “power that is operating in us.”

What a thrill to be a part of the Divine ministry of our Father. To be privileged to anticipate with great excitement the future that He has in store for us, both in this present evil age, and in the glorious ages to come!

That, in the oncoming eons, He should be displaying the transcendent riches of His grace in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:7).

God Is Making Us Qualified

Today, as we face the hardships and trials of life that seem as though they may destroy us, we can encourage ourselves in the Lord by remembering that “all is of God” (I Corinthians 11:12; II Corinthians 5:18; Romans 11:36), and thus we can glorify Him as He is making us qualified for the heavenlies by doing “all things without murmurings” (Philippians 2:14), being “patient in tribulation” (Romans 12:12) and being “exceeding joyful in all our tribulation” (II Corinthians 7:4).

These simple truths sustain us as we humbly, unreservedly bow to His unmatched wisdom and unfailing love for us, while He makes us qualified for the heavenlies.
